Our Jigsaw Multi-Way dress is the epitome of versatile.  With over 14 ways to style it, it’s the perfect dress to take with you on holidays.  You can wear it again and again with a new look each time, making it practically 15 dresses in one!   But often when faced by so many style possibilities, the Multi-Way dress can be a bit intimidating to the average fashionista.  But have no fear.  The lovely ladies of the Beverly Hills Jigsaw store helped me out together a video tutorial showing you the many ways to wear the Multi-Wear Dress!  Take a look and be inspired!

Extra special thanks to Melissa, Jenny and Hannah for their participation and fabulous stylings!

This week’s pick comes to us from the lovely ladies at our Burlingame store.  They’ve decided to favor our Linen Dotty Print Dress and it’s not hard to see why.  This pretty dress features a flattering shape, easy-fitting cut and classic print, making it one that can keep looking great from season to season.

We picked this dress because the linen fabric is light and breathable-perfect for summer, but we also love the fun polka-dot print.  The dress is amazingly flattering; it plays into the stretchy-fitted dresses that are popular now, but maintains a modesty that keeps it from looking like shrink-wrap!  It’s the perfect cut, with the ideal amount of stretch!

The other aspect we love about this dress is how easy it is to layer with cardigans, scarves and jackets, making it a strong contender for our winter wardrobes as well as our summer looks.  You can see above how great Nikki looks in the dress when layered over a classic button-up shirt, like our Summer Stripe Long-sleeve Shirt in blue.   But we’d love to see it layered over a bright summery orange top as well!

For her second look, Nikki styled the dress under our Jersey Trim Jacket and belted it at the hips for added femininity.  She also added our flower and pearl necklace to finish off the look.  The result?  A look that’s both dressy and incredibly comfortable (the perfect equation!)

Finally, Nikki paired the Linen Dotty Print Dress with our classic straight-leg twill jeans and the King’s Bling Tano bag.  Belted low on the hips, this dress morphs into a flouncy day shirt that’s playful and easy going.  Adding a bright scarf adds a pop of color and completes this lovely layered look.

This dress is currently only available in our boutiques, so if your in the Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Burlingame or Berkeley area head on over and try it on!  Happy Styling!

Sometimes it only takes one small thing to set someone apart from the crowd.  A signature style piece.  So many fashionable women have used this technique to create a lasting and memorable impression of who they are – That item gets imbued with the essence of the woman who wears it and it then reminds people of her fashion sense and her charm.  Even if your look changes dramatically from day to day, keeping one item consistent adds a new level of sophistication and style to your wardrobe that can make you all the more memorable!  So why not give it a try?

It’s an easy thing to take on in just your everyday clothes.  Maybe add a vintage bracelet, an heirloom, or a fun pin to all your outfits.  Or perhaps for summer, start wearing some flowers in your hair, add a bow to all your hair-styles or even go for a signature lipstick in a bold shade.  The possibilities are truly endless, but to help you along, here are a few of our favorite signature styles from the past…

The best thing about Maxi skirts?  They look elegant and effortless on everyone.  We just can’t seem to get enough of them over here at Jigsaw HQ…Here’s to hoping this is one trend for the ages!

You already saw how our San Francisco store styled the Ticking Stripe Seam Maxi Skirt, but here’s another maxi styling we adore. Our new Diane Maxi skirt has the potential to be styled as a long slung bohemian maxi, a waist flattering, elongating maxi, or even a halter dress!  It’s just full of versatility and everyone here is just smitten.  Here’s a look at how two of our Jigsaw team styled it…

Summer, from our San Francisco store, paired it with our Shrug Detail Top and heels:

And Allison from our Burlingame store mixed the dark skirt with a neutral top:

How would you style the Diane Maxi skirt?

Congratulations to the winners of our Mother’s day sweepstakes;  Ashley, Sunshine and Marci!  And thanks to all the lovely ladies, moms, and daughters who entered the contest.  We hope to have more fun giveaways in the months to come so stay tuned and keep entering!

This week, we are focusing on all the ways to restyle clothing and make it your own.  From adding embellishments to finding new ways to wear things, Jigsaw-London is all about versatility!

So to kick things off, here’s a super easy tutorial on how to tie a scarf into a vest!  One of our customers actually showed us this technique (you are all so clever) and after she left our Burlingame store, they tried it with our Union Jack Scarf.  This scarf is perfect for this styling because it shows off the gorgeous flag part, that’s otherwise hidden.

Step by Step…

1. Fold scarf in half and take the top two ends and tie into a small square knot

3. Pull apart the two remaining open ends until you create two holes; these have become the arm holes

4. Put on your vest and separate the front and back till you have it looking the way you want and you’re done!

Helpful Hints:  Make sure you have the brightest side of the scarf on the outside of your vest and for another look, wrap the front ends across your body and pin to create your very own wrap top!

Happy Styling!

We’ve been talking quite a bit about all the lovely moms out there in the blogisphere (human and dog moms) but today we’d like to share a motherly moment from inside the Jigsaw-London headquarters in Beverly Hills.  We had a very special visit from one of our production associates newest family member this week and it brought out the motherly love in the whole office.  Even a design fitting became a “family affair!”  Here’s a few snaps from the session…

And at Jigsaw-London there’s nothing we enjoy more than a bit of family fun!  To all the moms celebrating this weekend, we wish you a very happy Mother’s Day!

Hi everyone! I’m Alycia and I blog over at The Curious Pug. We have two dogs: Monty, who is a 2 year old chihuahua/terrier rescue dog who will do anything to please you, and Mabel, who is a 7 month old Boston Terrier completely obsessed with playing fetch. I admit that I am a crazy dog lady and a proud dog mom who will do anything for my dogs. So I thought it would be fun to share a few of the (sort of crazy) things that makes us dog moms who we are in honor of Mother’s Day.

You know you’re a dog mom when…

-You make sure your dogs get their annual check ups and are in better health than you are.

-Your dog eats higher quality and healthier food than you do.

-You speak in silly voices on your dog’s behalf and believe that is what they are actually saying. Then laugh about it.

-Instead of buying those shoes you’ve been wanting for months, you’d rather spend the money on dog toys.

-You dog has their own toy box which is usually overflowing.

-You have a special basket where you keep ripped dog toys so you can spend a whole day sewing them back up.

-You refer to your dog as your ‘baby.’

-You match the color of your furniture or throw blankets to your dog’s fur.

-Before anyone sits on your couch, you warn them about dog hair getting on their clothes.

-Dog hair is considered a condiment in your home and no big deal. Just pick it out and continue eating.

-You wonder how much of your life has been spent looking at your dog’s butt.

-You want to, or already have, coordinated Halloween costumes with your dog.

-You’d rather oooh and ahhh over a picture of someone’s dog rather than their human baby.

-You get mad or offended when people say negative things about certain breeds, especially if that is the breed of your dog.

-You spend your weekends at the dog park or doing dog related activities instead of doing things with other humans.

-Your mom refers to your dog as her ‘granddog.’

-You kiss your dog on the lips and don’t even think twice about it.

-You have more pictures of your dog on your wall/cell phone/blog than of your significant other.

-Your home has at least one dog bed in each room.

-You have baby gates set up in your home, but no human babies.

-You have a hard time trusting or liking people who don’t like dogs, especially your dog.

-You have a bag dedicated to carrying your dog’s things, much like a diaper bag.

-Your holiday cards include a photo of your dog.

-You sign those holiday cards to include your dog’s name or paw print.

-Your dog has their own Christmas ornaments.

-You give gifts to others on your dog’s behalf (To Dad, Love Dog).

-You have a blog/facebook/dogster account for your dog.

-The best part of a vacation ending, is getting to pick up your dog from their daycare/boarding facility.

-Forget the boarding facility and you bring your dog on vacation with you.

-Your car has a dedicated dog blanket or car seat for your fur baby so they won’t get car sick.

-When your dog is sick, you are sick with worry.

-You will spend thousands of dollars on your dog or do whatever it takes to make them better.

-Any new experience in your life, you think about how you could include your dog.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mom’s, of dogs and humans alike!

The Camelia Print Dress is the perfect dress for Spring 2012 and beyond. It is a classically cut piece with a feminine floral print that is neither overwhelming nor boring. This dress is one that may never go out of style; it is an easy go-to piece that could have been as relevant 10 or 20 years ago as it is now. It can be dressed up for a wedding and other formal Summer events, or dressed down to wear as a sundress. The 1980’s and 90’s styles have been making a huge comeback these last few seasons. This is a piece that lends itself to those vintage styles without being a costume of them; it can wear as very modern and feminine with a mere change of accessories.

The Camelia Print Dress is a tea-length chiffon floral print dress with a crinkled skirt and bodice pleating at the front and back. The button closure at the neckline can be closed to give an elegant 3.5” keyhole just below the neck or left open to give the bodice a blousy drape. This dress is lined in a soft pink with the exception of the beautiful unlined puffed sleeve. There is a long removable sash belt made of the same material that can be wrapped around once with a lengthy, floppy bow or twice for a wide belt with a smaller bow. The print is a watercolor-esque, pink floral on a taupe/nude base. There are various tones in the print ranging from light nude to dark pink and even bits of olive green.

I’ve styled this look in a classic way with a stylish nude heel, but instead of the sash I have replaced it with a skinny, boyfriend belt to give a little more definition at the waist and add just a touch of a modern edge. Personally, I also have a shorter waist; hence a smaller belt is more flattering for me than a big sash. Here, I’ve paired this look with the Campomaggi Tattoo Print Bag to play with mixing prints and as a juxtaposition of something heavy paired with something delicate.

Pick of the Week: Camelia Print Tie Bow Dress

Hannah has the perfect coloring for this dress with her fair skin and red hair, but because of the wide range of colors in the print, though I think it suits just about any skin tone. Hannah has a longer waist therefore it suits her better to tie the sash in a pseudo-kimono style showing off her waist. She has done this by thickly wrapping the sash around her waist twice, leaving it to tie in a knot at center back. She has styled the dress in a more casual way with an oxford style platform shoe, and the adorable cross body shimmery bag from Tano. To achieve the same look, you could also pair this dress and purse with a platform sandal.

It seems that my most formative fashion years were during the height of the grunge movement in the 90s, and as a result I am constantly wearing combat boots with EVERYTHING (even here at Jigsaw), especially with sundresses, and floral prints – including this dress. When I pair chunky boots with dainty dresses, I’m definitely referencing the floral Dr. Martens I had when I was 10. Alongside the chunky boot, I just can’t help but pair our favorite Union Jack studded clutch with this look. I would wear this outfit any day of the week, giving a nod to the 90’s in a sophisticated way.
